Press Release: Award-Winning Author Geoff Ward Talks at Hudson Area Library

Geoff Ward, author of the Black Child Savers: Racial Democracy and Juvenile Justice and Associate Professor of Criminology, Law and Justice at the University of California, Irvine, is talking at the Hudson Area Library on August 8th, 2013 from 7:00 - 8:30. The talk is titled "Black Child Saving Along the Hudson: The New York Movement, 1930-1980." Ward will discuss how the movement against Jim Crow juvenile justice took shape in New York State, with a special focus on "black child savers" and their work up and down the Hudson in remaking predominately white juvenile justice systems.

This event is open to the public and free of charge. The talk will be followed by an audience discussion with Dr. Ward.
